TERMS AND CONDITIONS

For Training and Educational Centre for Hearing impaired Charitable Trust (TEACH)

1. INTRODUCTION


These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the admission, enrolment, participation, and use of services offered by Training and Educational Centre for Hearing impaired Charitable Trust, a not-for-profit organization established in India, operating a Higher Education and Skill Training Institute for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students, with campuses located in Mumbai, Delhi, and Pune. By applying for admission, enrolling in any course, or availing any service of the Institute, the student and/or their parent/guardian (where applicable) agree to abide by these Terms.

2. VISION, MISSION, AND PURPOSE


Vision – To be the world’s premier educational institute for the DHH community.

Mission – TEACH ensures the overall development and transformation of Deaf & Hearing-Impaired youth in India. By providing Higher Education, skill development, communication skills and social & emotional development, we prepare students for, and place them in, corporate jobs, supporting them to be successful in their career and life!.

Purpose – To build an equitable ecosystem for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, enabling them to reach their true potential.

3. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

  1. Admissions are open to:
    • Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
    • Students meeting minimum academic and age criteria as specified for each program.
  2. Admission is subject to:
    • Verification of educational certificates.
    • Medical or disability documentation (if required for support services).
    • Availability of seats.
    • Pretest Scores
  3. The Institute reserves the right to accept or reject any application without assigning reasons.

4. ADMISSION PROCESS

  1. Admissions shall be conducted in a transparent, fair, and non-discriminatory manner and post submission of a duly completed application form
  2. Eligibility criteria shall be clearly published and may include:
    • Minimum academic qualifications.
    • Age criteria (if applicable).
    • Disability documentation solely for the purpose of facilitating reasonable accommodation.
  3. Submission of required documents (educational records, identity proof, disability certificate, scholarship documents (if eligible)).
  4. Participation in assessments, interviews, or orientation programs, if prescribed.
  5. Reservation, inclusion, and support measures shall be implemented in accordance with:
    • Government of India guidelines.
    • Policies for Persons with Disabilities.
  6. Admission is confirmed only upon written confirmation from the Institute.  Admission does not confer any automatic right to continuation unless academic and conduct standards are met.

5. FEES AND PAYMENTS

  1. Fee structures vary by course, campus, and duration.
  2. Fees may include tuition, training materials, assistive services, and administrative charges.
  3. All fees must be paid within the prescribed deadlines.
  4. Late payments may attract penalties or suspension of services.
  5. Fees once paid are non-refundable, unless explicitly stated otherwise in writing.
  6. Scholarships, concessions, or financial aid (if any) are subject to separate policies and availability of funds.

6. ACADEMIC CONDUCT AND ATTENDANCE

 
  1. Students must maintain:
    • Minimum attendance as prescribed by the Institute.
    • Academic discipline and satisfactory progress.
  2. Use of Indian Sign Language (ISL), interpreters, assistive technologies, and inclusive teaching methods.
  3. Failure to meet academic or attendance requirements may result in:
    • Warnings
    • Probation
    • Suspension or termination of enrolment

7. CODE OF CONDUCT

Students are expected to:

  1. Respect fellow students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  2. Maintain discipline and decorum within campus premises.
  3. Refrain from:
    • Harassment, discrimination, or bullying.
    • Damage to Institute property.
    • Any unlawful or unethical activities.

Violation of the policies of the institute may lead to disciplinary action, including expulsion.

8. USE OF FACILITIES AND RESOURCES

 
  1. Institute facilities (classrooms, labs, libraries, assistive devices, computers, laptops and other devices) are to be used only for academic purposes.
  2. Students are responsible for proper care of equipment and resources.
  3. Any damage or loss caused intentionally or due to negligence must be compensated.

9. SUPPORT SERVICES FOR DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING STUDENTS

 

The Institute endeavours to provide:

  • Sign language interpretation
  • Captioning support
  • Accessible learning materials
  • Counselling and mentoring services
  • Internship and Placement for eligible students

Availability of services may vary by campus and program.

10. HEALTH, SAFETY, AND WELL-BEING

 
  1. Students must comply with health and safety regulations.
  2. The Institute is not responsible for personal belongings lost or stolen.
  3. In case of medical emergencies, the Institute will take reasonable steps to assist but does not assume medical liability.

11. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

 
  1. All course materials, content, logos, and branding are the intellectual property of the Trust and may not be distributed or stored without explicit written consent.
  2. Students may not reproduce, distribute, or commercialize Institute materials without prior written consent.

12. CONFIDENTIALITY AND DATA PROTECTION

 
  1. Student data will be collected and used only for academic, administrative, and support purposes.
  2. The Institute follows reasonable measures to protect personal information.
  3. Data may be shared with authorities or partners only where legally required or necessary for student welfare.

13. TERMINATION AND WITHDRAWAL

 
  1. Students may withdraw by submitting a written request.
  2. The Institute reserves the right to terminate enrolment due to:
    • Serious misconduct
    • Academic failure
    • Non-payment of fees
    • Disciplinary Issues
  3. No refunds shall be applicable upon termination unless otherwise specified.

14. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

 

The Institute shall not be liable for:

  • Indirect or consequential losses.
  • Events beyond reasonable control (natural disasters, government actions, etc.).
  • Personal injuries unless caused by proven gross negligence.

15. AMENDMENTS

 

The Institute reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time.
Revised Terms shall be communicated through notice boards, official communication, or the Institute website.

16. GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION

 

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India.
Courts having jurisdiction at the respective campus location (Mumbai, Delhi, or Pune) shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
